When it was inaugurated we saw its purpose being two-fold. On the one hand, it was meant to be a forum for African leaders to "speak their piece", to use an American southern expression, and on the other hand, we saw it as having the potential to chronicle the continent's growth and development over time. Over the nearly decade and a half of its publication, the report has served both purposes well. It has become a valued resource for private sector leaders on every continent as well as for political leaders in capitals around the world. The 2014 African Leaders' State of Africa Report is the thirteenth such report that we have issued.en-USCopyright 2014 Boston University.
