The Betulin Project

Permanent URI for this collection

The Betulin Project is a sophomore organic laboratory project that begins with the isolation of betulin from birch bark, then progresses through sequential transformations. The project is designed for a six-lab semester, with synthetic branch points built in so a small library of betulin analogues can eventually be built over time. The procedures that have been made available here have been tested twice over the past two years.
